Dorothy M. Cole, 85, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in Conroe, TX, surrounded by family. The funeral will be held at Sullivan's Funeral Home in Vernon, TX at 10:00am on Saturday, August 4, 2012, with visitation at Sullivan's Funeral Home on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 7:00 to 8:00 PM. Officiating will be Rev. Hilda Cavazos.
Dorothy was born in Chicota, TX to Robert Wilkerson and Stella Worley Wilkerson, graduated Northside School in Vernon, TX, and married Alton C. Cole on Dec. 18, 1946 who preceded her in death 47 years later. She was very active in 4-H with her children. She is preceded in death by her brother, Robert Wilkerson, and sister, Bessie Halencak.
She is survived by her sister, Stella Edmonds of Vernon, TX; 2 children, Leslie Carrol Cole and wife Betsy of Portage, MI, and Mrs. Linda Joyce Cole Cabbell of Conroe, TX;
5 grandchildren, Jim Cowley and wife Shelly of Keller, TX, Robert Cole and wife Janelle of Malakoff, Texas, Terri Benson and husband Matt of Montgomery, TX, Brian Cole and wife Lisa of Dallas, Texas, and Celeste McKee and husband David of Conroe, TX;
13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was affectionately known as "Grandma" to all her grandchildren, their spouses, and great-grandchildren, and she will be greatly missed.
