Medal Of Honor
'Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in Company D, 7th New Hampshire Infantry, Union Army. In actions at Richmond, Virginia, September 1864, he showed great personal courage on the skirmish line in engagements with Confederate forces. For extreme gallantry in the face of the enemy, he was awarded the Medal of Honor and later achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant."
