In Mid 1800"s The Original Cemetery Was Located South Of Thalia. In Late 1800's, Family Members started moving Loved Ones And Markers To This Site. (When it Was wet, It Was Almost Impossible To Get To The Old Cemetery).
In 1906, Thalia Cemetery Association Was Formed And Purchased The 4/110 Acres In Trust, For Area Pioneers And Descendents Burials
It is Unknown When The First Burial Was, But The Oldest Rock Marker Is Carved "M W Died 1848". Due To Communications, in The 1800"s, They Usually Had A Quiet And Quick Burial. The Fist Known Public Gathering For Burial Was In 1887, For A Child Named "Coatney" (Bitten By A Rattlesnake) There Are Many Unmarked And Unknown Graves, Due To No Markers Or Markers Made From Wood Or Stone That Have Vanished Through Time.
There Are Over 950 Known Buried And 158 Of These Are Children Under The Age of 15.
Thalia Community Had Many Happy, Joyful Days, Also Many Sad, Tearful Days Due To The Deaths And Burials OF the Pioneers And Descendents Buried Here.
