James Kurby Hickey, 84 of Vernon, Texas died on Sunday, January 6, 2013, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday January 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Eastview Cemetery with Rev. Charles Bartlett officiating.
James was born Thursday, August 9, 1928 in Duncan, Oklahoma, he was the son of the late Avis Everett Hickey and the late Lela Verbina Brock Hickey. He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army serving over seas. Served in WWII. Recieved a purple heart and 2 Presidential Citations. He had worked for the City of Venon and retired in 1976. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He had lived in Vernon most of his life.
Surviving are Two sons
Randy Allen of Lipan, TX.
James Karl "Jamie" Hickey of Green Castle, Pennsylvania
One daughter
Lee Ann Burnett of Lakeside City, TX.
23 grand children and numerous Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son, Kurby Dale Hickey, daughters, Teresa Krieg and Loretta Schumacher.
