Lettie Gertrude Matney, 103, passed away Monday, April 22, 2013 in Bowie, Texas.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Bowie with Mike Henson officiating.
Graveside Services will be 2:30 p.m., Thursday, April, 25, 2013 at East View Cemetery in Vernon, Texas.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service at the First Baptist Church in Bowie.
Arrangements entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or Hospice of Rural Texas.
Lettie was born March 24, 1910 in Montgomery County, Arkansas to Alex and Julia Long, and later her family moved to Texas in 1923. Lettie married Leslie Matney on December 17, 1929 in Hollis, Oklahoma. After four years of farming, they moved to the small town of Elliott, Texas where they owned and operated a farm equipment repair shop for forty-one years. She moved to Bowie and was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church since 1997.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Julia Long; husband, Leslie Matney; daughter, Jean Bunch; four brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by her son, Howard Bunch and wife, Mercedes of McKinney, Texas; grandchildren, Kenny Bunch of Wylie and Randy Bunch and wife, Leta of Yantis; two great-grandsons, Kasey Bunch of Houston and Dustin Wise and wife, Kendra of Wylie; great, great granddaughter, Avery Wise of Wylie; two sisters, Erma Ingley and Lorene Thompson of Bowie; and numerous nieces and nephew
