Services for Joe Averitt, 78, Mount Vernon, relative of Tyler and Lindale residents, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Harvey Funeral Home chapel, Mount Vernon, with the Revs. Pete Adrian and Billy Condrey officiating.
Burial will be in Providence Cemetery.
Mr. Averitt died May 8, 2008, in Tyler.
He was born May 6, 1930, in Horatio, Ark., to the late Ernest Averitt and Ruby Stephens. He worked for IBM for more than 33 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mount Vernon.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Averitt, Mount Vernon; son, Roger Averitt, Lindale; daughters, Sheri Averitt, Tyler, Debbie Phillips, Lindale, Brenda Rachuig, Richardson, and Phyllis Powell, Tennessee; stepdaughters, Carolyn Bolin and Rita Hughes, both of Mount Vernon; 23 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
