IOWA PARK - Reid Willis Pyle, 85, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008, in Iowa Park. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at the Dutton Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will follow at the Wilbarger Memorial Cemetery in Vernon, Texas, under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park.
Mr. Pyle was born Dec. 6, 1922 in Thalia, Texas, to Ray and Clara (Shultz) Pyle. He married Evelyn J. Pope on Dec. 10, 1942 in New York City, N.Y. He was a self employed Bulldozer Operator in Vernon, Texas, for over 60 years and was a veteran of World War II. He is preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Erma (Flax) Pyle; son, Gerald Pyle; and brother, Joe Ray Pyle.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Evelyn Pyle of Iowa Park; three daughters, Pat Goss and her husband, Greg of Iowa Park; Linda Johnson and her husband, Doug of Orange Grove, Texas; and Rita White and her husband, J.W. of Iowa Park; one son, Gary Pyle and special friend, Henry Harms of Chattanooga, Okla.; two brothers, Lois Pyle of Floydada, Texas, and James Pyle of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Iona Adkins of Crowell, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
