Bio: Capt. Justus Filander Tracy was born on 30 May 1824 in South Carolina to Nancy Reynolds Tracy. He was a farmer and horse breeder. He appeared on the 1850 US Census in Cass County, Georgia.

Justus married much younger Anna Eliza Vaughn, 6 July 1857, in Dover, Arkansas.
They had eleven children: William Franklin, Julia Ella, Mary Jo Anna, William Nathaniel "Nat", Thomas Gilbert, unnamed stillborn twin boys, Justus Wright, Henry Greenberry, Nancy Oretha, and Sterling Hansford "SH" Tracy.
One of their sons became a minister; another son was a doctor.

Justus and Anna also raised their orphaned grandchildren, Ollie Russell and Berry Ben Kerr.

Justus served in the 8th Arkansas Infantry during the Civil War and was a member of the Acton Masonic Lodge.

The Tracy family appeared on the 1880 US Census in Hood County, Texas. Justus Filander Tracy died 9 May 1904, two weeks before his eightieth birthday, in Acton, Texas, and was buried at Acton Cemetery.
