Minter L. Clayton, son of Roy L. Clayton, entered the Army Air Corps Aug. 26, 1942; sent to Pacific Feb. 9, 1944 for 20 months' service; served on Luzon, New Guinea, Panama Canal the Philippines and Australia. He was attached to Signal Corps; held rank of Staff Sergeant when discharged on Jan. 9, 1946.

Funeral service will be Monday January 21, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Church of Christ with Jay Hanley and Dave Winn Officiating. Interment will follow at Wilbarger Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Lewin was born on September 16, 1913 in Ballinger, Texas. He was the son of the late Roy Leondrel Clayton and the late Ersa Mae Lewis Clayton. He married Lela Myrtle Mauldin on July 3, 1940 in Coleman, Texas. He moved to Vernon in 1948. He was a member of the Church of Christ where he served as Deacon. He served his country in the Army during WWII. He was stationed at the Panama Canal the Philippines and Australia. He was in the Signal Corp. He was the owner and operator of Clayton's Menswear. He had been a member of the Lions Club and the Vernon Chamber of Commerce.
