OVERTON-Funeral services for Johnie Gist, 73, of Turnertown, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Crawford-A. Crim Chapel, the Rev. Richard Boone officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill.
Pallbearers will be Gary Jackson, Kenny Baker, Grover Tramel, Keith Jackson, James Goolsby, Cecil Smires, Jimmy Smires and Gene Buckley.
He died Thursday in Roy H. Laird Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born Jan 16, 1917, in Clay County, Arkansas, Mr. Gist had lived in East Texas since 1935. He was a member of the Price Pentecostal Church and worked as a derrick hand for a major oil company. Family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Gist of Turnertown; one daughter, Teresa Christopher, of Arp; and two sisters, Norma Smires, of Overton, and Mildred Broyles of Corpus Christi. Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home Obituary.

ENDA "FAYE" GIST---Services for Enda "Faye" Gist, 65, of Turnertown, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan 3, 1998 at Crawford-A. Crim Chapel with Rev. Richard Boone officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home in Henderson.
Mrs. Gist was born October 3, 1932 in Currie. She died January 1, 1998 at Doctor's Memorial Hospital in Tyler. She was a Turnertown resident since 1951. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Wright City and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Gist.
Survivors include one daughter, Teresa Diane Christopher and her husband Michael of Arp; one brother, Henry Mitchell of Kilgore; three sisters, Hazel Patterson, Fairfield, Maxine Goolsby of Bossier City and Jimmie Lou Jackson of Joinerville; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Keith Jackson, Gary Jackson, Richard Jackson, Bryan Jackson, James Goolsby and Charles Seals. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home Obituary
