Richard Franklin "Ricky" Heldenbrand, 51, of Kilgore, Texas, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in Longview, Texas.
Richard Franklin Heldenbrand was born Nov. 25, 1960 in Fairfield, Ill. to Roma Buchanan Heldenbrand and Frank Heldenbrand.
Ricky was a blessing to our family from his infancy. His generous spirit, loving nature, sense of humor and love for the Texas Longhorns made an impact on numerous people throughout his life.
A former resident at Travis State School in Austin and the Glenda House in Longview, Ricky was active in Special Olympics in his younger days and enjoyed working for Coca-Cola, the facility's wood shop as well as with his Dad and brother at Frank's Oilfield Service in Turnertown. He loved animals, especially his sister "Kakky's" horses; dancing with his sisters and niece; teasing his family and friends about the gigantic fish he would catch as opposed to the minnows they would; singing; and going on Texas Rangers baseball game bus trips with the church family at First Baptist Church of Liberty City.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Roma and Lee Hughes of Kilgore; father, Frank Heldenbrand of Turnertown; three sisters, Debrah VanMeter of Longview, Kathy Vernon of Chapel Hill, Charlotte Heldenbrand of Overton; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Doug and Suzy Heldenbrand of Arp and Erik Hughes of Kilgore; one stepsister, Joyce Pace of Liberty City; a niece, Lori VanNorman of Liberty City; nephews, Frank Conrad of Henderson, John David VanMeter of Texarkana, Ark., Chance Watson of Corpus Christi; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Burial: Pleasant Hill Cemetery, New London, Texas
