PANHANDLE (Spec) - Services for C.H. "Red" Bell, 70, retired businessman and former mayor of Panhandle, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church.

The Rev. David Campbell, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Bell died Friday. He was born in Haskell, and moved to Panhandle from Alanreed in 1936 to establish the Universal Motor and Implement Co., which he operated for 21 years.
He was a Baptist and had been a deacon of First Baptist Church of Panhandle since 1957. He also was a former president of the Panhandle Association of School Boards, a past noble grand of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Panhandle and long active in Support of the Boy Scout program here.
He was justice of the peace of Precinct 1 from 1971 until his retirement in 1978. He served as mayor of Panhandle for two terms in the early and mid-1960s. He married Monta Gibson in 1931 at Sayre, Okla.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, are a son, Monty C. Bell, Albuquerque; a daughter, Mrs. Elaine Llewelyn of Federal Way, Wash.; two brothers, Shelby Bell of Clarendon and Kenneth Bell of Borger; five sisters, Mrs. Cassie Owens of Hedley, Mrs. Beatrice Long of Riverside, Calif., Mrs. Ethel Holland of Plainview, Mrs. Alpha Howard and Mrs. Jean Bain, both of Sunray; seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.
