HEREFORD - The 13-year-old son of a Deaf Smith County Commissioner was killed Sunday when his motorcycle was in collision with a car 24 miles west of Hereford on Farm Road 214.
Jeffry Bruce Coleman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Coleman, was dead on arrival at Parmer County Hospital in Friona shortly after the accident.
The 6:45 p.m. accident near the family home occurred when the boy, who had just pulled his motorcycle onto the farm road's northbound lane, was hit by a car driven by Iril Jack, 54, whose home address was not known.
The cycle came to rest 97 feet from the point of impact. The Jack vehicle went off the road to the right and came to rest in a field.
The youth was active in school and had just graduated from the eighth grade.
He was active in the First Christian Church.
A list of survivors was not available late Sunday. Gilliland-Watson Funeral Directors are in charge of services.

HEREFORD - Services for Jeffry Bruce Coleman, 13, who was killed when his motorcycle collided with a car 24 miles west of here Sunday, will be at 2 p.m. today in First Christian Church. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are by Gilliland Watson Funeral Directors. The Rev. Eugene Brink, pastor, will officiate.
The boy, who was active in the First Christian Church and had just graduated from the eighth grade, was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Coleman. His father is a Deaf Smith County Commissioner.
The youth was dead on arrival at Parmer County Hospital shortly after the 6:45 p.m. accident on Farm Road 214. Iril Jack, 54, a resident nearby, was driver of the car.
Surviving besides his parents is a brother, Gary of the home; one sister, Cindy of the home; and his grandmother, Mrs. Josie Busby of Lubbock.
