Reads: T.J. Reader Mar. 6, 1846 Sept. 3, 1916 ..Tis hard to break the tender chord, When love has bound the heart, Tis hard, so hard, to speak the words, We must forever part.
T.J. Reader was born in Alabama. After his service in the Confederate Army, T.J. married Nancy Jane Lee Feb. 2 1867. They had moved to Lavaca, Texas by 1870. T.J. and Nancy had 9 surviving children, one of which was Tempie Texas Reader Mahler. Daughter Tempie is also buried in Edgar Family Cemetery. T.J. and Nancy are buried beside one another.
