Funeral Mass for Earl Loyd Green, 73 of Overton, will be at 10:30 am, Friday, June 27, 2014 at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Overton with Fr. Dan Dower officiating. Burial at the Overton City Cemetery with the Texas Trooper Honor Guard participating. Arrangements are under direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton.

Mr. Green died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at his residence. He was born December 28, 1940 in Keota, Oklahoma to the late Opal Henderson and Eunice Drummond Green. He married Grace Ann Rothfuss on June 17, 1963 in Irving, Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy for six years. He received his Bachelors Degree in Criminology, worked as a Police Officer for the City of Dallas for four years and for the State of Texas as a State Trooper for twenty four years. He served as a Deputy Sheriff and as a Bailiff for Rusk County, where he retired his extensive services in law enforcement. He was an instructor for the East Texas Police Academy at Kilgore College, as well as having served a term as President of the East Texas Peace Officers Association. He and his wife served as foster parents for many years. They both volunteered as Hosts for State Parks in Texas, Virginia, South Dakota, Utah, and California for the past nine years.

Mr. Green was a recipient of the Liberty Bell Award for the 4th Judicial District Court for Rusk County. He served as a Cub Scout Troop Master in Henderson for four years, was a charter member of the St. Jude's Knights of Columbus. As a member of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Overton, he served on the Building Committee, the Parish Committee as well as a Lector.

Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Christine Clark and his granddaughter, Treanna Green.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Grace Green from Overton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Wendelyn Green of Lufkin, and Stan and Melinda McCombs of Early; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Stacey ‘Buster' Bundrick of Overton; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Ailene Green of Oroville, California; a sister and brother-in-law, Hester and Bill Yocum of Bristow, Oklahoma. Grandchildren and their spouses included are, Airiel and John Robin, Meagan and Nathan Brown, Cherie and Jake Sims, Chase Green, James Young III, Annalicia Green, Aleeya McCombs, Kailey Bundrick, and Jordan Bundrick. Great grandchildren are as follows, Maddox Sims, Nadalyn Robin, Mackenzie Sims, Bryden Robin, and Kaimon Kimbrell, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be James Young III, Chase Green, William Wisener, Levi West, Vernon Hughes and Jacob Kimbrell.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, June 26, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 p.m.
