Graveside services for Doyle Wayne Smith, 63, Kilgore, were held Saturday, June 21, at Overton City Cemetery with the Reverend Harry G. LaGrone officiating under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home, Overton. Mr.Smith died Thrusday,June 19, at his residence.He was born December 4, 1939. In Laird Hill to the late J.B. Smith, and Jewell Barton Smith. and was a lifelong resident of the Kilgore area.He attended Kilgore Schools, and is a veteran of the U.S. Army. He married Carolyn Myers February 14, 1999 in Kilgore and had worked for Lebus Oil Field Services, in New London for 17 years. and he retired in April 2002.He was a Baptist.He was preceded in death by one stepson, David "Bo" James.He is survived by his wife of 4 years.Carolyn Myers Smith,one son and daughter-in-law,David B. and Sandra Smith,two step sons and one stepdaughter-in-law, Clifford Myers.Will and Jenny Myers.one daughter and son-in-law Carol and Wayne Bender.his mother Jewell Smith,one brother Marion Smith.three sisters, Evelyn McCool,Glenda Aaron,and Jan Baird.two grandchildren.four step-grandchildren. and several ninces and nephews.Pallbears were David Smith,James Mitchell,Brad Smith,Russell Smith,Tony Watson, and Robert Morrison.Honorary pallbears were Cliff Myers,Will Myers, Dave Drive, and Charles Canterbury.
