Evelyn Bodkin, 76, of Hereford, TX passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital in Amarillo, TX.
Celebration of life services are under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home in Hereford, TX and will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church in Hereford with Reverend Joan Gaines officiating. Interment wil be held at Rest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Hereford, TX.
The family will receive friends at Parkside Chapel Funeral Home on Friday, Jan. 25, 2008 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Mrs. Bodkin was born Aug. 7, 1931 in Allenreed, TX the daughter of Ivy and Ura Miller. She married Leroy Bodkin on January 29, 1949 in Olton, TX. On Tuesday, Evelyn and Leroy would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. She was a seamstress in Hereford for over 20 years and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Bodkin was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hereford for many years and really enjoyed life. She loved to play bridge and she loved to dance. Evelyn also loved going to the lake, where she fished and taught her grandchildren to water ski. Most of all, Evelyn enjoyed being a wife, a mom and a grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, Leroy of the home; one son: Jim Bodkin and wife, Lucy of Canyon, TX; two daughters: Judy Welch and husband, Frank of Dimmitt, TX, Jackie Monk and husband, John of Guymon, OK; two brothers: Joe Miller and wife, Nell of Amherst, TX, Frankie Miller and wife, Sarah of Del Rio, TX; four sisters: Bonnie Burrow and husband, Dallas of Batesville, ARk., Charlotte Gooch and husband, Larry of Bartlett, Tenn., Rhonda Fick and husband, Mark of Magness, Ark., Pam Miller of Newark, ARk.; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one brother.
The family request memorials to the Presbyterian Children's Home, 3400 S. Bowie, Amarillo, TX or Hereford Day Care Center, Box 806, Hereford, TX.
