Alice Elaine Witt was born in Denton, Texas to Angie Bruey Payne and Charles Franklin Witt. Upon graduation from North Texas State Teachers College, Elaine taught home economics and was a homebound teacher until her retirement in 1984. She was a devout Christian and taught primary Sunday School classes as well for 30 years. Elaine passed away in Lewisville, Texas.

Elaine married Max Forest Goldsmith June 30, 1946. Max was born in Lewisville, Denton Co., Texas, to Mary Tallulah "Lula" Cunningham and Walter Bell Goldsmith. Max was a talented athlete in Lewisville H.S. and went on to compete in college at North Texas State Teachers College. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Max returned to resume his studies and ultimately teach and coach football and track until his retirement in 1983. The Lewisville H.S. football stadium is named "Max Goldsmith Stadium" in his honor. He passed away in his hometown of Lewisville, Texas. Elaine and Max had two children during their marriage.
