Jodie was the son of Clemmie Roberts Stevens (1881-1968) and Josiah Irvin Callaway (1879-1945). He was born Apr. 10, 1907 in Hughes Springs, Cass Co., Texas. Jodie died as a youth, killed by a lightning strike while working on the family farm in Hughes Springs. Jodie's brothers put his body in a wagon and drove him home to tell their mother Clemmie about his death. He is buried in the Callaway family plot in Hughes Springs Cemetery.
