Inscription:
"Rest Is Thine And Sweet Memories Ours"

This little lady was my g-grandmother on my mother's side. She outlived 3 husbands. She bore 11 children, all living to adulthood except one. My mother thought the sun rose and set in Grandma Davidson.

She married her first husband Robert J. Jones 24 Dec 1879 in Lindale, Smith Co. TX. He was born in Ireland about 1850 and died before Jan. 1887 in Smith Co, TX. They had two children. Mary Elizabeth b.1880 d.1883 and Robert Jackson b. 1883. Don't know where Mr. Jones is buried.

She next married Charlie L. Spears 10 Jan 1887 in VanZandt Co., TX. They had three children: Minnie b. Dec. 1887,Carlos b. July 1889(my grandfather)and Mollie b Sep 1891. Charlie died in 1892 and is buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, Canton, Van Zandt Co., TX.

Next and last she married Thomas C. Davidson in Van Zandt Co., TX. They had six children. Nettie, Ada, Earl, Buena, Dona and Lola.

Belle owned or managed a hotel in Canton, TX after the death of her 2nd husband Charles. The parents of Charles owned a hotel in Canton at the time but it is not known if it was the same one that Bell managed.

Tom and Belle were married Sep 3, 1895 in Van Zandt Co., TX. After her marriage to Tom Davidson, the family moved to Comanche County in the early part of 1900. They lived in a half tent, half dugout upon arrival. Tom bought a farm and moved his family into a new two-story house. The original house was torn down in the late 20s or early 30s and replaced by a one level house. The farm was sold in later years to their son Earl. The old house has now been razed and Earl's son Bill and his wife Sue have built a home on the land and resides there at this writing, March 18, 2000.

Tom worked with his brother on a railroad building job and continued this work for several years. Belle cooked for the workers. The family lived in tents. In the late 20s, the family moved back to the farm and lived there until the death of Tom in 1940. Belle continued to live on the farm with help from her children until her death in 1956.
