Services for Lois Gowdy, 93, Tyler, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Johnny Wright officiating. Burial will be in Overton City Cemetery.
Mrs. Gowdy died Friday, July 19, 2013, in Tyler. She was born Aug. 7, 1919, in Greenbriar, Ark., to the late John S. and Eleanor Henderson Lieblong. She was a retired teacher and active in the Baptist church. She was a graduate of Arkansas Teachers College (now University of Central Arkansas) and held a master's degree in psychology from Northeastern State College in Tahlequah, Okla.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Alma Kennamer; and two brothers, Lester Lieblong and J.I. Lieblong.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, John and Linda Gowdy, Albany, N.Y.; granddaughter, Anna Annese, Albany, N.Y.; and two great-grandchildren, Livia and Michael Annese.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, prior to service time.
