Graveside services for Mr. James Duncan "Jim" Pollock Sr., 88, of Longview, formerly of Henderson, will be 11 a.m. Friday, November 8, 2013, at Crims Chapel Cemetery, with the Rev. David Luckert officiating under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The family will receive friends before the service at the cemetery.
Mr. Pollock was born August 10, 1925, in Groesbeck, Texas, to Elmer and Armenda Susan (Beaver) Pollock. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific. He married Dessie Bell on July 3, 1945, in Dallas, Texas. He died Sunday, November 3, 2013, in Longview.
Henderson, Texas, was his hometown from 1951 until 2005 when he moved to Longview. He was employed by Jack Anderson Company in Kilgore, Texas, from 1952 until 1974. He retired from Johnston-Lawrence Company in Kilgore in 1993.
Mr. Pollock was preceded in death by his mother, Armenda Pollock; father, Elmer Pollock; and an infant daughter, Susan Ann Pollock.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Dessie Pollock of Longview, Texas; his brother, Norman Benson Pollock and spouse, Lyndell, of Austin, Texas; son, James D. Pollock Jr. and daughter-in-law, Hettie, of Longview; grandsons, Tim Pollock and spouse, Kristen, of Springfield, Virginia, and Mark Pollock and spouse, Vicky, of Houston, Texas; and nephews, Norm Pollock and Mark Lynn Pollock of Austin.
Mr. Pollock was a member of First United Methodist Church of Henderson, Texas, and a former member of Henderson-Kiwanis-Alpha, where he served as Secretary for a number of years. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans and a member of American Legion Post No. 288 of Groesbeck, Texas.
