Obituary:
Marie Thelma (Snyder) Nelson went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ and her husband of 64 years early Wednesday, July 8th, 2015. She was born on December 31, 1920, in Faribault, Minnesota. Marie passed quietly at 94 years young and was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

Marie married Dallas M. Nelson Jr. on January 9th, 1946, in his parents' home in Palacios, Texas. They moved to the Rio Grande Valley in the early 1950s and became active members of St. Mark United Methodist Church in McAllen, Texas. She loved the fellowship with her friends in the United Women's Society and in the church. Marie and Dallas worked hard together building their real estate business, and she was the bookkeeper for many years.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Lydia Snyder of Minnesota, husband Dallas Nelson of McAllen, and sisters, Ilene Boje of McAllen, and Wanda Omilyak of Fontana, California.

Mrs. Nelson is survived by her two daughters Tiana Scruggs (Bill), and Linda Rowland of Austin; two grandsons Rick Scruggs of Round Rock and Kevin Scruggs of Dallas, Texas; one great-grandson Treyton Scruggs and relatives in Texas, Minnesota, Louisiana, and California.

Our family wishes to sincerely thank the caregivers who lovingly cared for Mrs. Nelson while she lived in McAllen. She was also blessed with outstanding senior and hospice care at Silverado Senior Living Center-Onion Creek in Austin, Texas. We are so thankful to have had her near us the past four months.

Memorial services for Marie will be held in McAllen, Texas at St. Mark United Methodist Church on Monday, July 20th, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. An Inurnment service will be held at the Rio Grande Valley State Veteran's Cemetery in Mission, Texas, where Marie will rest alongside her husband. The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Mark Methodist Church, 301 W. Pecan Blvd., McAllen, TX 78501. Funeral services are arranged by Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen.
