GREENVILLE — Danny Don Giddens was born in Mt. Vernon on March 30, 1951, and passed away June 27, 2010, from pancreatic cancer at age 59. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Commerce Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Gary Little officiating. Burial will be in Grey Rock Cemetery in Winfield. The family will receive friends and family for a time of visitation at 9 a.m. prior to service.

Danny grew up on a farm in the Hopewell community south of Mt. Vernon. He worked for the Texas A&M University-Commerce for 14 years, and prior to that worked at a furniture manufacturing plant in Mt. Vernon where he developed his love for working with wood that started his hobby of making beautiful bird houses and miniature windmills.

He is survived by his brother, Rex Giddens and wife Cleva and their children Emilee and Clayton of Commerce; a niece, Kelly Giddens Storey and husband Tom of Frisco and their children Marissa, Tyler and Seth; a niece, Holly Mclver Stone and husband Scott and their children Ethan and Samuel; a nephew, Trey Mclver and wife Dasha and daughter Presley, all of Farmersville; an uncle, Bill Giddens and Joanne of Franklin, Tenn., and an aunt, Bobbie Giddens of Talco.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Milton Reuben and Nora Leita (Broach) Giddens and a sister, Samantha Lil Mclver and her husband John Wesley.
