Funeral services for Gary Leon Matthews Blundell, 26, who was killed in an auto mishap near Henrietta, September 26, were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in James B. Totten Memorial Chapel with Rev. Darwin Stroud, pastor of First Assembly of God Church and Rev. Dave Johnson, pastor of St. Paul's Catholic Church, officiating. Interment was in Electra Memorial Park under direction of James B. Totten & Son Funeral Home.
Born January 27, 1955 in Dimmitt, Texas, he was employed in the oilfield construction business. He had lived in Electra most of his life and was a member of First Baptist Church.
He earned an associate of Arts Degree from Alvin Community College and his engineering degree from Texas
A & M University.
Survivors include: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Matthews of Electra, his father, Leon Blundell of Eldorado, Oklahoma; two brothers, Shawn Matthews of Electra and Pete Matthews of Austin; his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Carpenter of Idabell, Oklahoma; and grandfather, Raymond Matthews of Electra.
Pallbearers were: Neil Short, Don Sparks, James Morgan, V.L. Matthews, Joe Carter, Abbo Boaldin._
