Lieutenants: GUNNELS, Nathan C., enlisted at Palestine on April 11, 1863.
Wounded, had arm broken in Battle of Mansfield or Pleasant Hill (LA) on
April 8 or 9, 1864.
His record does not show he was sent home, but he had to be due to inability to be able to perform his duties as a soldier. Due to the arm being broke, and mending and then his death in Nov, 1864, he probably never returned to service in the war.

Therefore he is the same blood line of the Gunnels in Anderson County, Elkhart and Palestine areas.
