Graveside services for Pat Earl King, 77, of Uncertain will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2007, at the Purley Cemetery in Purley, Texas, under the direction of Downs Funeral Home. Mr. King died Saturday, May 19, 2007, in Longview. He was born May 6, 1930, in Purley to Floyd King and Gertrude Hester King. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School where he played on the 1947 Mount Vernon state championship football team. He was a retired switchman for Southwestern Bell Telephone, retiring after 41 years of service. He was a former member of the BPOE Lodge and a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his sons, Steve King of Jefferson, Chuck King of Scottsville and Tim King of Caddo Lake; daughter Linda Doss of Hallsville; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
