Funeral services for Kenneth Fomby 82, of Gainesville are set for 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011 in the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lewis Acrey officating.

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., this evening, Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011 at the funeral home.

Kenneth passed away on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011 in Corinth.

He was born on Nov. 10, 1928 in Dallas to Jackson Henry and Mrytle Heath Pallister Fomby.

He served two years in the U.S. Army and upon returning, he married Virgie Doris Sharp in 1949 at the Turner Hotel in Gainesville.

Kenneth was a very successful entrepreneur and businessman. He was an avid horse man and rancher. He also had a love for animals.

Kenneth was an active member of the New Beginnings Fellowship Church. He believed in hard work and loved and cherished his family especially his grandchildren.

Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Virginia Gail Brandt, son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Russell and Teresa Fomby, honorary children Allen Jackson Fomby, Gary Ellsworth Fomby and Robert Loyd Tamplin. He is also survived by a brother, Paul Robert Fomby of California, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie Doris Fomby; daughters, Jan Reiter and Beth Kuykendall and sons-in-law, Bill Reiter and Tommy Brandt.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.
