Lucille Evans of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2016 at age 101 1/2 years of age. She was born in Lindsay, Texas on July 23, 1914, the third of five daughters and two sons born to Joe and Helena Gieb. By 1925 the family had relocated to Gainesville where Lucille attended Saint Mary's Catholic School. After graduation she worked in the Cooke County Assessor’s office.

On November 14, 1956 she married Robert J. "Bob" Evans, a prominent oilman in Gainesville. They moved to a home on 816 South Rusk Street where she resided for over fifty years. Bob died on May 13, 1979. In 2010, Lucille moved to Overland Park, Kansas where she was cared for by her sister Annabell Gaughan and her nieces Dr. Rebecca Gaughan and Mary Ann Caffrey. She also received wonderful care from Dr. Kathy Chartrand, Dr. Lynne Schopper and "VISITING ANGELS" Jackie, Terri, Kim, Janice, Lori, Natasha, Victoria, Crystal, Chris and Cindy as well as Mike Bartkoski who brought her HOLY COMMUNION every day.

A kind and generous person, Aunt Lou provided support to many in her family and in her community. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Lawrence and Joe Gieb, Jr., sisters Virginia Teague and Sister Helen Mary Gieb, SSND and her sister-in-law and "best friend for life" Frances Hatcher . She is survived by her sisters Evelyn Schafer of Kingwood, TX and Annabell Gaughan of Kansas City, MO and numerous loving nieces and nephews and their families.

The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2015 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
