Gainesville resident, Dorothy Louise Jahn Nelson passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the age of eighty-seven. Dorothy was born in Fort Worth, Texas on March 14, 1925 to Charles H. and Johnie Wilson Jahn. She attended public school in Fort Worth, graduating from Amon Carter Riverside School.

On December 24, 1943 she married Bennie Mize Nelson. Dorothy spent most of her adult life in Fort Worth as a homemaker. In 1984 Dorothy and Bennie moved to Gainesville, Texas to be close to their daughter, Beverly, her husband, Jerry and their two children, Chris and Clint. After moving to Gainesville Dorothy was an involved member of Whaley United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Christian Thinkers Sunday School Class and proudly participated in the annual Chicken Spaghetti Supper.

While in Gainesville, Dorothy worked alongside her husband in their janitorial service business and for the GISD as a "lunchroom lady".

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister, three infant grandsons and her husband, Bennie. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Jerry Woodlock of Gainesville; grandsons, Chris Woodlock and Clint Woodlock and his wife, Lawana and two great-granddaughters, Kylie Woodlock and Reagan Woodlock.

A private burial service for Mrs. Nelson will be held Tuesday, December 11, 2012 in Fairview Cemetery with a 3:00 p.m. Memorial Service at Whaley United Methodist Church officiated by Dr. Charles L. Aaron, Jr. Visitation will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall of the Church. Services are under the direction of Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home.
