Funeral services for Gloria Parrish, 76, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Langley and Rev. Hollis Parsons officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mrs. Parrish passed away October 16, 2016 in Gainesville.

Gloria was born September 22, 1940 in Gainesville to Herman and Nadine (Ballew) Day. She was a member of Gainesville High School class of 1958. Gloria married Bill Parrish on December 19, 1970 at First Baptist Church in Gainesville. She began her career in 1958 with Dr. Bill Powell and Dr. R.L. McLeroy at the Whiddon Memorial Clinic. Mrs. Parish then worked at the Cooke County School Superintendent’s office with Kit Carson. In 1977, she began her successful 27-year career at the Cooke County Auditor’s Office, from where she retired in 2004.

Mrs. Parrish was a proud and dedicated member of the community, evidenced by her involvement in numerous organizations. She was a member of Business & Professional Women, Soroptimist Club, the Red Hats, and the NTMC Auxiliary. Mrs. Parrish proudly served on the Boards of Directors of Abigail’s Arms, North Texas Medical Center, and the NTMC Foundation. A loyal and faithful servant, her hobbies were dedication to her family, friends, church, and community.

Survivors include: Linda (Day) Davis of Gainesville; Mary Day of Gainesville; Jana and Rich Doarn of Fort Worth; her precious Davis Doarn of Fort Worth; Diane and Mick White and Kelly Parrish of Fort Worth; several cousins; and many many dear friends.

Mrs. Parrish was preceded in death by: parents Herman and Nadine Day; husband Bill Parrish; brother Bob Day; and brother-in-law Ken Davis.

Serving as pallbearers are: Johnny Leftwich, Robby Baugh, Kenneth Alexander, Jerry Lewis, Larry Smith, Dr. Eddie Hadlock, Shane Greer, and David Belz.
