When Fred Lemond Reed was born on January 1, 1884, in Savoy, Texas, his father, James, was 28 and his mother, Mary, was 29. He had two sons and one daughter with Zilpah Lee Ann "Zea" Jones between 1904 and 1912. He died on January 8, 1963, in Vernon, Texas, at the age of 79, and was buried there.
