Odell Thomas Rainwater, 88, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2012, at the St. Peter Lutheran Church at the Fellowship Hall in Bowie, Texas with Larry Knoblock officiating.
Burial will follow at Lindale Cemetery in Bowie, Texas.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 til' 8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012, at the White Family Funeral Home.
Arrangements are entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.
Odell was born January 24, 1924 to Hosea Floyd and Ruth Bea (Rush) Rainwater in Waco, Texas. He served in the United States Army during World War II, the Normandy Invasion, and several other campaigns. Odell married Willie "Marie" Baggs on May 9, 1953 in Henrietta, Texas. He worked for Wichita Construction and in oil production for many years, and later worked in independent food service. Odell enjoyed working in his garden and pecan orchard. He is remembered with love and appreciation for his devoted years of life as a husband, father and grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hosea and Ruth Rainwater; wife, Marie Rainwater; five brothers, C.F., Ike, Beau, Harvey, and Kenneth Rainwater; two sisters, Edna Wheeler and Opal Rather.
Odell is survived by his two children, Gary Rainwater and wife, Sharon of Bowie and Gail Marie Sharp and husband, Russell of Bowie; six grandchildren, Ti Rainwater of Sherman, Rachel Wilson of Bowie, Rebbecca Seigler of Bowie, Daniel Rainwater of Dallas, Eric Pyatt of Euless, and Emily Davidson of Dekalb; three great grandchildren, Ryan Rainwater, Trae Seigler, and Bella Davidson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
