LA MARQUE—Mrs. Winifred Charlene “Freda” Jackson went home to be with the Lord on her 98th birthday.
She was born June 18, 1918 in Jacksonville, Texas to Wallace Edward and Susie Irene (Frederick) Ferguson. A faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Texas City for over 60 years, she enjoyed cross stitching and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Earl Jackson; daughter, Linda Sainz; brother, Edward Ray Ferguson; grandchildren, Lanel Overstreet and Brian Sainz.
Survivors include her daughters, Joyce Lanel Shifflett of Texas City, Glenda Bethune and husband, George of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Mark and Sherrell Bethune, Robert Bethune, Aaron and Claudia Martelli, Angela Smith, Ben Smith; great grandchildren, Hailey, Rebekah, Jonah, Olivia, Anthony and Dylan.
Visitation with the family will be 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2016. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX, (409) 925-3501, with Reverend Doctor Mark Bethune officiating.
A private burial will be at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
