Virginia Mason, 77 of La Marque passed away March 9, 2010 at Regency Care Center in League City.
Virginia was born October 23, 1932 in Victory, New York, the daughter of Allan Claire Blanchard and Bessie Ethelda Sweeting Blanchard. She graduated from Auburn City Hospital School of Nursing. Virginia was a retired registered nurse with 42 years of active nursing. She had worked for many years at Mainland Center Hospital as nursing supervisor in the Emergency Room. She was a longtime resident of La Marque and member of the First United Methodist Church. She was also a former member of the ANA and TNA for twenty five years and the ENA for ten years. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, J.W. Mason.
Virginia is survived by her two sons Michael M. Mason and wife Mary Ann Mason of Friendswood and Jerry W. Mason of Houston; two sisters Carol Grant of Fairhaven, New York and Marilyn Gober of Zephyr Hills, Florida; three step-grandchildren Stephen Sudela, Kameron Noack and Taylor Noack; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be Friday, March 12, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 in the Chapel of the funeral home, with Pastor Sharon Sabom, officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Boots Alexander, Eddie Kelly, Walter Crowder, Terry Alexander, Allan Kyler and Kenny Kyler.
The family request memorials be made to the Good Samaritan Foundation of Texas, 5615 Kirby Drive, Suite 610, Houston, Texas 77005
