*Obituary

Gary A. Watson, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 8, at the 22nd Street Church of Christ in Texas City where he was a member. Mr. Melvin Green will officiate. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City.

Mr. Watson was born April 6, 1938 in Nitro, West Virginia. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in the 101st Airborne Division. He retired from Amoco where he was affectionately known as "Grandma". In addition to his family, Gary loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved participating in trail rides and the Galveston County Fair and Rodeo.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Margie; his parents; sister, Janet McCoy; and his brother, Charles Watson, Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Watson of Santa Fe; sisters, Clara Irby of Texas City and Wanda Vettorel of Nashville, Tennessee; his children: Kathy Smith of Santa Fe, Pam Hebert and husband Pat of Texas City, and David Watson and wife Mary of Texas City; step-children: Ronnie Frost of Santa Fe and Debbie Jeffreys and husband David of Sheffield, AL. He leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Pallbearers are Adam Currier, David Watson, Adrian Green, Charles Watson, Jr., Rick Green, and Bobby Noto.
