Maurine Newsom, 88 of Weatherford, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 in a Weatherford healthcare center.. Maurine was born Dec. 30, 1922 in Collinsville, Texas. She was a retired bookkeeper for a cotton gin in Seminole, a member of North Side Baptist Church and loved spending time with her grandchildren.. Mrs. Newsom was preceded in death by her husband J.T. Newsom and sons, Clayton Newsom and Jimmy Newsom; granddaughter, Connie Stokes; four sisters and three brothers.. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Stokes of Weatherford; grandchildren, Chandra Newsom and Rayanne Hukill; great-grandchildren, Nisha and Mika; and great-great-granddaughter, Myranda.. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, 2011 in the Terry County Cemetery in Brownfield.. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel..
