*Obituary John
John R. Rust, 79, of Borger Nursing Center, died at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in North Plains Hospital.
Services are pending with Ed Brown & Sons Funeral Directors.
A native of Ranger, he had lived in Hutchinson County for 45 years.
Mr. Rust was employed at the Borger News-Herald from 1945-1969. He held a variety of jobs while working for the paper, including classified manager and sales; editor of the Fritch Newspaper and the Hutchinson County Herald. He was also well-known for his column "The Ole Rustler."
Mr. Rust was a member of the First Christian Church; was a past president of Borger Kiwanis Club and past Lt. Gov. of Division 6 of Kiwanis Clubs of the Texas-Oklahoma District.
Survivors include his wife, Josie of Durant, Okla.; a son, Ronald Rust of Sylacauga, Ala.; two daughters, Norma Lee Redwine of Durant and Jeanne Long of Lovington, N.W.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
