BORGER -Kenneth Vernon "Nick" Spencer, 81, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, in Edmond, Okla.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Highland Park Cemetery with Ricky Griffin, pastor of Grace Fellowship Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Mr. Spencer was a vital force in Sanford community life, serving as mayor and was leader in the development of fire and ambulance service for this small community.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary McLelland of Edmond; a brother, William Cole of St. Louis, Mo.; a sister, Elaine Riddle of Pampa; and a grandson.

SANFORD - Adele Spencer, 76, died Monday, Oct. 31, 1994 in St. Anthony's Hospice in Amarillo.
Funeral services are pending with Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Spencer, along with her husband, Nick, owned and operated Adele's Store & Gas Station in Sanford.
A native of Drumright, Okla., she had been a Borger resident since 1926. She was one of the first women in Hutchinson County to serve as a WAC. She was a veteran of WWII.
She married Nick Spencer on May 24, 1944 in Panhandle.
Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Mary McClelland of Piedmont, Okla.; one sister, Angie Jackson of Borger; and one grandson.
