*Obituary Fred
A.L. "Fred" Stevens, a pioneer of Borger, died about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday after suffering a heart attack at his home near Yarnall Station. He was 63-years old.

Stevens came to Borger in 1926 and worked with Phillips Petroleum Company here until 1951 when he was transferred to Yarnall Station about 18 miles south of Panhandle.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Panhandle, Borger Isom Lodge 1242, Order of the Eastern Star and Loyal Order of the Moose.

Survivors include his wife Isabel; three daughters, Mrs. P.A. Alexander and Mrs. Carl Gorham, both of Borger and Mrs. Fred Howard of Pampa; a son, Charles L. Stevens, Fort Worth; a brother, J.L. Stevens, Manitowoc, Wisconsin; three sisters, Mrs. Eva Murphy, Marion, Indiana, Mrs. Carl Boykin, Kalamazoo, Michigan and Mrs. Gladys Satterthwaite.

Services are scheduled at 3 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Borger with pastor Rollins Cherryholmes officiating. He will be assisted by Rev. Don Booher, minister of the First Christian Church of Panhandle.

Masonic burial rites will be conducted at the local cemetery. Masons are asked to report at Masonic Hall at 2 p.m. to assist in services.

Funeral services for Maudie Stevens, 88, of 515 Whittenburg, were at 4 p.m. today at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Jeff Holder, pastor, officiating.

Burial was in Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Ed Brown and Sons Funeral Home.

Mrs. Stevens died at 4 a.m. Saturday in North Plains Hospital.

A housewife, she was a native of Van Buren, Ind., and a Borger resident for 57 years.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 811 and Golden Grandmothers Club No. 685.

Survivors include one son, Charles of Fort Worth; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Howard of Quartz Hill, Calif., Mrs. Joyce Gorham of Amarillo and Mrs. Caroline Alexander of Borger; ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Fred Cochran, Billy Palmer, Don Rumond, Frank Selfridge, Jack Worsham and Don Pumphrey.
