Harold Lee Jones, age 88, of Wheeler, died Thursday, March 6, 1997.

Mr. Jones was born in Mountainberg, AR. He moved to Wheeler in 1960 from Allison. He married Jewell Mae Cochran in 1933 at Reydon, OK. She died in 1970. He was also preceded in death by his two sons, Troy Richard Jones in 1976 and Dwight Lynn Jones in 1993.

He was a farmer, rancher, and a bi-vocational minister for 55 years. He was licensed to preach in 1934 and ordained in 1936. His first pastorate was the Peaceful Home Baptist Church at Alma, AR. He was a member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Jean Fourmentin of Wellington; four sons, Billy Ray Jones of Fontana, CA; Lee Roy Jones of Memphis, TX; Wayne Jones of Canadian and Davis Jones of San Marcos;

Two sisters, Maxine Mills of Hampton, VA and Lois Risner of Wheeler; a brother, Gilbert Jones of Tulsa, OK; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Jewell Mae Jones, 51, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 1970.

She was born October 14, 1918 in Fannin Co., Texas. Her father's name is Arthur G. Cochran. She was married to Harold Lee Jones Dec. 23, 1933 in Reydon, Okla.

Mrs. Jones had lived in Wheeler since 1960 moving here from Allison, Texas. She was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Wheeler.

Survivors are her husband, Harold of Wheeler, 1 daughter, Mrs. Richard Fourmentain of Wellington, 6 sons, Bill R. of Rialto, Calif., Lee R. of Lawton, Okla., Troy of Pampa, Dwight L. of Amarillo, Wayne of Wheeler, David of the home, 1 sister, Mrs. Raymond Wright of Reydon, Okla. and 6 Grandchildren.

Funeral services are at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church of Wheeler, Thursday, May 14, 1970 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Ben Langley of Wheeler will officiate.

Burial services are in the Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.

Pall bearers are Bob Markham, Loyd Jones, Frank Coats, Glen Markham, R.L. Zybach and Wesley Steen. Honorary pall bearers are Claude C. Cox, Bill Begert, Claudy Brotherton, Bob Taylor, Virgil Helton and Murray Sanders.
