Funeral services for Mrs. Dora Smith were held at the First Christian Church, Shamrock, Texas, on Jan. 21, 1964, at 2:30 o'clock p.m. with the Rev. Thurman Morgan of Fort Worth officiating assisted by Rev. Cecil Lanning of Wheeler.
She was born at Stephenville, Texas, Nov. 1, 1877, and came to the community from Granada, Texas in 1945. On Nov. 17, 1897 she was married to John Emery Smith in Falls County, Texas. Her occupation was housewife and mother and she was a member of the First Christian Church at Shamrock, Texas.
She had been in poor health for six years and seriously ill for the past six weeks. Since Dec. 28, 1963, she had resided in a nursing home at Borger, Texas where she passed away Sunday afternoon, Jan. 19, 1964 at the age of 86 years 2 months and 18 days.
Survivors are the husband, John E. Smith of Wheeler, three daughters, Mrs. Lola Weems, Wheeler; Mrs. Viola Meador of McLean and Mrs. Johnnie Herrington of Borger, and one son, Roy B. Smith of Bryan, Texas. Also surviving are three grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were: Bedford Harrison, Jack Dekel, Burl Harrington, Johnnie Wilson, Woodrow Sims, Martin Callan, Clyde Johnson and Arling Cordell.
Interment was in the Wheeler Cemetery under direction of the Kirk Funeral Home.
