Rites Held For Joe Beaty
Funeral services for Joe Webb Beaty, 67, were held Wednesday, September 9, at 2 p.m. in the Sixth Street Church of Christ with H.D. Simmons, pastor, and Rev. Archie Echols, pastor of Friona United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial was in Friona Cemetery under the direction of Parsons-Ellis Funeral Home.
Born October 2, 1913 in Kennedy, Texas, Beaty moved to Friona in 1937 from Upshur County, Texas. He was a farmer and had worked for Kendrick Oil Company. He was a member of the Sixth Street Church of Christ.
Survivors are one son, Fred Beaty of Friona; four daughters, Mrs. Wanda Jones and Mrs. Zelma Thorn, both of Friona, Mrs. Jo Ann Parson of Ruidoso, New Mexico and Linda Beaty of Dallas; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Hooper of Longview, and Mrs. Faye Mayes of Dallas; and nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearer were grandsons, Joe Jones, John Jones, Justin Parson, Kirk Parson, Garvin Thorn, Mike Blackburn and Foy Don Rector.
Honorary pallbearers were William J. Mercer, Walter Cochran, O.W. Mimms, Rene Snead, Hoyt Smith and Nelson Welch.

Funeral services for Willie Beaty Robinson, 81, will be held Saturday, September 29, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sixty Street Church of Christ with Pastor Leon Talley officiating, assisted by Rev. Don Boren of Friona United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Friona Cemetery under direction of Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home.
Mrs. Robinson died Wednesday, September 26, 2001, at Parmer County Community Hospital. She was born January 31, 1920 in Longview, Texas. She had been a Parmer County resident for 64 years.
She had worked at K-Bob's in Clovis and Hereford for many years as a hostess. She was preceded in death by a husband, Joe Beaty, a son, Fred Beaty and a husband, Jerry Robinson.
Survivors include four daughters: Linda Beaty of Dallas; Jo Ann Bowen of Tucson, Arizona; and Wanda Jones and Zelma Thorn, both of Friona; two sisters, Quessie Jackson of Hereford and Zelma Jewel Brasher of Camden, Arkansas; a brother, Hoye Smith of Weatherford, Texas; nine grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
