Eliza Williams Dies Friday In Amarillo
Eliza Janie Williams, 615 Union, Hereford, passed away at 9:45 p.m. Oct. 6 in the Thurmond Rest Home in Amarillo. She was born August 3, 1870 in Lockhart, and married James H. Williams in 1890 at Lockhart.
Mr. Williams preceded her in death in 1947. He was a stockman-rancher pioneer, moving to Deaf Smith County in 1899 from Castro County.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Gililland Funeral Home's Rose Chapel. The Rev. Russell Wingert, pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Hereford, will officiate. Mrs. Williams was a housewife and a member of the Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by six daughters, Mesdames Mary King, Hereford; Floyd Sweet, Fort Worth; F.O. Williams, Anchorage, Alaska; Ruby McBride, Dallas; Lela Wilmeth, Ft. Sumner, N.M.; Edna Collier, Redlands, Cal.; and five sons: J.H. Jr., El Paso; Ray H., Austin, Nev.; Bill, Calgary, Canada; Jake, Littleton, Colo.; George, Fairbanks, Alaska; 34 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. One son preceded her in death in 1949.
