HEREFORD - Funeral services for Wesley Washington Rhodes, 66, a resident of Hereford since 1929, are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. today in Greenwood Baptist Church here.

The Rev. Prentice D. Smith, pastor, was to officiate. Burial was to be in West Park Cemetery by Gililland Funeral Home.

Mr. Rhodes, who died Saturday morning at his home after a lengthy illness. was born in Heavener, Okla. He married Ethel May Northern on March 2, 1953, in Clovis, N.M.

He was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church and was a service station owner.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, John W. of San Diego, Calif., and James of Dallas; two daughters, Mrs. Lucille Williams of Afton, Okla., and Mrs. Dorothy Massie of Bastrop, La.; four brothers, A.A. of Hereford, Harrison of Bakersfield, Calif., Earl of Kiowa, Okla., and Leroy of Quapaw, Okla.; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Senatte of McAlester Okla.; 28 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ethel Mae Northern Rankin, 89, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Robert E. Parker officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in West Park Cemetery in Hereford. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mrs. Rankin was born Sept. 1, 1922, in Telephone to Ernest and Letha Northern. She owned and operated a service station on Highway 60 and ran a grain truck. Mrs. Rankin was a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Rhodes.

Survivors include four daughters, Margie Dawson, Doris Strain and Bonnie Bell, all of Amarillo, and Linda Mauck of Glenpool, Okla; a son, Gene Oakley of Walcott; three sisters, Lorene Baumler of Denison, Edna Been of Dallas and Faye Linville of Saginaw; 15 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials be to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
