Ray Watson of Hereford, a former Wellington resident, died Sunday, September 8, in an Amarillo Hospital.

Mr. Watson was born in August 1922 in Wellington, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. E. O. Watson, who farmed a mile east of Wellington on the Mangum Highway for many years and where thy raised their 7 children.

Ray Watson was an outstanding Skyrocket football player during his years at Wellington High School, graduating in 1940. He moved to Hereford in 1941.

He served in the Army Air Corps in World War II and was a retired postal clerk in Hereford.

He married Reba Morris in 1943 in Amarillo.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Reba Watson of Hereford; a son, Terry Watson of Longview; two daughters, Connie Ubancryk and Shannon Haggar, both of Hereford; two sisters, Edice Copeland of Amarillo and Juanita Hall of Lubbock, and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl Paul, Virgil and Dale Watson.

HEREFORD - Reba L. Watson, 87, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, in Hereford.

Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. today in Hereford Heritage Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 411 E. Sixth St., with Mr. Connie Urbanczyk, son-in-law, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Hereford Heritage Funeral Home.

Reba was born Nov. 22, 1922, in Arney to Johnny Redwine and Katie Mae (White) Morris. She married Edwin Ray Watson on June 16, 1943, in Amarillo, and moved to Hereford. Reba loved roadtrips, gardening and spending quality time with her family. She was a nurse and went to work for Deaf Smith County Hospital in 1960. She later worked for Dr. Tim Revell until her retirement.

Reba assembled bombs at Pantex during WWII. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and friend to many.

Reba was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Watson, on Sept. 8, 1985; and four sisters, Jo French, Ruth Dirks, Pat Wolfe and Othella White.

Survivors include a son, Terry Watson and wife Cecilia of Longview; two daughters, Connie Urbanczyk and husband Connie of Hereford, Shannon Hagar and husband Kenneth of Hereford; two sisters, Helene McFarland of Plainview and Wilma Bell of Amarillo; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

The family suggests memorials be to Samaritan Hospice, 426 Main St., Hereford, TX 79045; King's Manor Methodist Home West Gate, 400 Ranger Drive, Hereford, TX 79045; or a charity of choice.
