HEREFORD - Jack "Buck" Ward Jr., 74, died Saturday, May 6, 2006. Celebration of life services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Trinity Fellowship Church with the Rev. Wayne Kniffen, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Rix Funeral Directors.

Mr. Ward was born Dec. 19, 1931, in McAlester, Okla., to Jack Ward Sr. and Cora Johnson Ward. He married Helen F. Rhodes on Dec. 31, 1949, in Clovis, N.M.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Judy Sparks of Memphis, Tenn., and Kaye Long of Amarillo; three sons, Ricki Ward and Allen Ward, both of Hereford, and Micki Ward of Enid, Okla.; his mother of Amarillo; two sisters, Louise Williams and Doris Jean Ward, both of Amarillo; a brother, Lawrence Ward of Canyon; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Trinity Fellowship Church Renovation Fund, 401 West Park Ave., Hereford, TX 79045 or BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Helen was born January 3, 1934 in McAlester, Oklahoma and passed away peacefully with her loving family surrounding her on March 2, 2015. A Celebration of the life of Helen Faye Ward will be Friday, March 6, 2015 at 11:00 am at Hereford Heritage Funeral Home, 411 E 6th Street, Hereford, Texas. Burial will follow in West Park Cemetery.
Helen married the love of her life, the late Jack “Buck” Ward, Jr. on December 31, 1949. They made their home and raised their five children on the E.C. Reinauer Farms, where they were long-time residents of the Dawn area community. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack “Buck” Ward, Jr., her parents Abbott & Alma Rhodes, a brother Allen Rhodes, a sister Lavonne West, a sister Lee Merle Lemmon, and a granddaughter Taylor Paige Martin. Helen is survived by her children: Judy Sparks & husband Darrell of Cordova, Tennessee, Kaye Long of Amarillo, Ricki Ward and wife Debbie of Hereford, Micki & wife Mona of Enid, Oklahoma, Allen and wife Laura of Hereford, two brothers – Troy Rhodes & wife Bonnie of Hereford, Tex Rhodes & wife Pat of Wichita Falls, Texas, a sister – Wynema Simpson of Norman, Oklahoma, 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. In her last years, she was lovingly cared for by her granddaughter, Amy Long, and the staff of the Amarillo Center for Skilled Care.
