HEREFORD - Emily Suggs, 96, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009.

Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church of Hereford with the Rev. Kyle Streun, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Hereford Heritage Funeral Home.

Emily was born Aug. 14, 1913, in Hereford to Walter and Dexter Boston Fincher. She married the love of her life, George Suggs, on March 24, 1935, in Hereford.

Emily was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, LEA Study Club, Senior Citizens Center and a Red Cross Volunteer during World War II. She loved to go fishing, read, play cards, dominoes and liked to listen to classical music.

She recently traveled to Pikes Peak in Colorado. Emily loved to travel and was a member of the Air Stream Travel Club. She was dearly loved by her family and a host of many friends and will be greatly missed.

Emily was preceded in death by her husband; a son, G.W. Suggs; a brother, Bill Fincher; and three sisters, Dexter Davenport, Rhoda Bess Dodson and Olivia Reddell.

Survivors include a daughter, Sue Havens of Vancleave, Miss.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggest memorials be to Hereford Senior Citizens Center, 426 Ranger Drive, Hereford, TX 79045.
