*Obituary
Marilyn Elizabeth Cathey Henley Cloud, 92, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014 in Georgetown, Texas. Born on February 28, 1922 in Texarkana, Texas, she is the daughter of James Walker Cathey and Sarah Ruth Patterson. On July 28, 1939, she eloped with Arthur Lee Henley and moved to Houston. Together they reared five children: Micheal Cathey (Clysta) Henley, Pameula Sue (Jack) Crockett, Arthur Lynn (Marilyn) Henley, Arleigh Kay (Jeff) Josephs, and Donna Marilyn (Al) Provence who provided her with 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Marilyn's greatest pride and pleasure in life was being a wife, mother, and grandmother. As a young homemaker, she enjoyed the Home Demonstration Club. An expert seamstress, she made clothes for all her children and many of her grandchildren, including prom dresses, her daughter's wedding dress, and bridesmaid dresses for her daughter-in-law and two granddaughter's weddings. She enjoyed creative cooking, decorating, and making drapes and upholstery. Every grandchild cherishes their handmade Christmas stocking.

After her husband's death in 1975, she married Omer Cloud on August 5, 1977 and was widowed again in 1987. She worked for Foley's, Baylor College of Medicine, and Words to Go. In her retirement she volunteered at Memorial Hospital Southwest and maintained active memberships in Beta Sigma Phi - Delta Master Chapter and Eastern Star. She was also the 42 champion at the Senior Center in Sugar Land.

Granny Merr, as her many noisy grandchildren affectionately called her, loved them all with a fierce passion, hosting sleepovers, field trips to the Houston Zoo and Peppermint Park, swimming, and calming them with "meditation" tapes. Merr is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren through her songs, her recipes, and her much enjoyed games of 42, Dominoes, Skip Bo, and even Solitaire. She adored visits from her great-grandchildren who brought her chocolate treats.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents, her brother James Arleigh Cathey, two husbands, one grandson, Cameron Crockett, and three great grandsons, Brian Cathey Green, Torren Henley Scott, and Kinden Nicholi Scott.

Marilyn leaves a wonderful legacy through her children and their families. She provided a strong and wonderful foundation rooted in family solidarity, caring compassion, and community service.
Private family services were held. Memorials can be made to: Parkinson's Disease Center, Baylor College of Medicine, 6500 Fannin, Suite 1801, Houston, TX 77030.
