*Obituary Dell J. McGuire
Dell Jarrett McGuire, 93 of Midland (formerly of Big Spring), passed away on Thursday December 17, 2020, at Manor Park in Midland. Graveside service will be held on Tuesday December 22, 2020 at Trinity Memorial Park at 2:00 P.M. A memorial service will be held in January 2021.

Dell was born on October 5, 1927 in Seminole County, Oklahoma to W.W. and Belva Mae (Dickey) McGuire. He was number 10 of 11 children and the last to leave. Dell spent his childhood in Plainview, Texas, on the family farm.

After attending school, he joined the U.S. Army on Jan 2, 1946 and was stationed in Germany during the Occupation. He was Discharged on June 14, 1947. He returned to Plainview, where he met and married Evelyn Hall on August 22, 1948. They later moved to Big Spring in 1954, where he was employed by Cosden Oil Refinery. He spent 31 years in different departments, including Plant Maintenance, hauling gasoline, and working in the Styrene Unit. He retired in 1985 at 58 years of age. After retirement he started his own Welding Business in Big Spring, (Dell’s Welding Service). He welded and worked in construction for several years before officially retiring for good.

Dell and Evelyn raised three children while in Big Spring, Jerry, Gordon and DiAnn.

He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Big Spring. He was an interictal part in the building of the Gymnasium and assisted in creating the Drive-Thru Nativity which celebrated its 34th year this December. He also participated in serval Work & Witness Mission trips with the church. After moving to Midland he attended The Gathering Church.

He was a great example of what a Godly Man and loving Husband and Father should be.

Dell was preceded in death by his parents, Evelyn his wife of 65 years, siblings, and his son Jerry Dell McGuire.

He is survived by a Daughter in-law Clare McGuire of Gatesville, his son Gordon McGuire and wife Pam of Big Spring. Daughter DiAnn Fowler and Husband David Fowler of Midland. 7 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren and many Nieces and Nephews.

The family also wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the care givers at Manor Park with a special thank you to his nurses, Dollie, Teresa and Jessica for all their compassion and support during his stay in the Vogel Center.

*Obituary Evelyn B. Hall McGuire
Evelyn Hall McGuire, 86, of Big Spring, died Monday, January 28, 2013, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Jerry McGuire, officiating, and Rev. Calvary Callender, assisting. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM, Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at the funeral home.

Evelyn was born January 24, 1927, in Abernathy, Texas and married Dell J. McGuire August 22, 1948 in Plainview, Texas.

They moved to Big Spring in 1954 and she had worked as a lab technician at the Malone and Hogan Hospital and the Veterans Administration Medical Center, retiring in October of 1988.

She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include her husband, Dell McGuire of Big Spring; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Clare McGuire of Belton and Gordon and Pam McGuire of Lampoc, California; one daughter and son-in-law, DiAnn and David Fowler of Midland; one sister, Arlyse Speed of Midland; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Gladys (Fox) Hall; and two sisters, Loydene Dickinson and Nheva Hall.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Evelyn McGuire Memorial Building Fund, %First Church of the Nazarene, 1400 S. Lancaster, Big Spring, TX 79720.
